(My thanks to Vappz for giving me the opportunity to write another guest blog.)

Many months ago, I was overwhelmed with school assignments and exams. Despite needing to spend every waking moment writing, researching, and studying, I kept finding myself staring off into space, daydreaming.

The reason behind these lost moments? I had gone to a concert and exchanged Meaningful Eye Contact (TM) with a bassist. I knew it was silly to keep thinking of this long after the band had left town, but try as I might, my focus kept shifting back to that concert.

I turned to my friend Robin for advice. Robin is one of those people who has somehow managed to live many different lives over the course of some 30-odd years. She’s had plenty of adventures and always has entertaining stories to tell. Best of all, she’s a good listener and a great friend. Faced with my concentration problem, I asked Robin for help. And many months later, I still remember what she said to me:

“Let your mind wander and your heart soar.”

Sometimes it’s okay to unplug and indulge in your daydreams. We all need to do that from time to time, and we shouldn’t feel guilty about it.

This week’s track, by up-and-coming Montreal band Groenland, is the perfect song to daydream to. Let lead singer Sabrina Halde’s gorgeous, sultry voice take you away. And when this band makes it big, don’t forget who told you about them.

Thanks for the great life advice, Robin. This one’s for you.
